NEWS RELEASE

Wingless Sprints W.A 2011 AGM

June 19 - Wingless Sprints W.A held their 2011 AGM today at the Belmont Sports Club, and a surprisingly awake crowd following on from the Saturday night annual Trophy Night fronted to take care of the more serious side of the association's running.

Several committee positions were up for election at this year's AGM, and in good news for the club, there was no shortage of personnel willing to become involved and actively help shape the future of the exciting wingless sprint class in Western Australia.

The first position decided was the all important President slot, and in fantastic news for the class, Greg Migro was elected unopposed, returning to the role he held for the first two years of the club's existence.

At this point, it would be remiss not to acknowledge the contribution of Jeff McCann in his 12 month tenure as WSWA Club President. In a year that contained some new challenges for the young club to have to face, Jeff has provided a stable and calm hand in guiding the club through some of these issues, and in his final address was certainly forthright about the importance of some of the issues still to be faced by the incoming officers of the club.

The next positions to be decided saw the first election of the day, with two Vice Presidents to be voted into office, from a field of four nominations. Kim Beard and Daryl Clayden were ultimately the two individuals entrusted with these key roles.

Once again, mention simply must be made here of the contribution of Des Nash who did not seek re-election following 3 three years in one of the Vice President roles. Des has been heavily involved in the WSWA club from the very first meeting of the club in 2008, and his high level of passion for the division is without question.

Jenny Elst was elected unopposed to the Secretary position and will undoubtedly bring wonderful administrative experience to the group.

Next, and final election for the day was for the four vacant General Committee positions, with a field of six in the mix for the vacancies. Once the voting and counting was complete, the four additions to the committee were - Berend Kaaks, Adrian LaMacchia, Glenn Francis and Ryan Starling.

Jo McCann remains as Treasurer, while Ross Chetwynd faces a second year in the Race Secretary role as the two remaining committee members with no change of role.

The 10 individuals now remaining in positions, or newly elected onto the WSWA committee face a key year in the ongoing growth of the class as the countdown to season 2011 / 12 begins in earnest (not discounting the current winter racing at Ellenbrook Speedway). With the 4th full summer of racing approaching for the wingless class in W.A, there will plenty of work to do as the class claims it's space in the W.A speedway landscape.
