December 27 - One of the new features this year for Wingless Sprints W.A, is the ability for all driver's to drop their worst two rounds throughout the 17 round Rogue Race Products season long points chase. As the final race for 2011 is just a few hours away, and conveniently is also as good a a half way point as one can have with an odd number of rounds, it is perhaps timely to ponder how the leader board looks with the worst two rounds for each driver dropped away. As of tonight's round, the season points sheet that is linked via the results page will show two season figures, the actual earned number of points in total, and a corrected figure with the worst rounds removed. The two worst rounds will also be highlighted on the sheet for each driver. The season pointscore tally to the right on your screen on each page will switch as of tonight (being the halfway point of the series) to reflecting the corrected score. So with 7 rounds in the books, let's just get a feel for what implications the worst round rule has on the leaderboard. * Major change at the top of the leaderboard. With Daryl Clayden having not run Round 1, he has a 0 to drop out, along with a 21 point haul from Round 3 and shifts his total from 382 to 261. Scotty Elst has done all 7 rounds to date and been very consistent, costing him 43 points and moving him to 349, handing first place in the series to Clayden. * Similarly Daniel Keen loses out to Marshall McDiarmid in the current standings for 3rd. Keen has done all rounds and loses 48 points, while McDiarmid won't miss the 0 that his no show at the November Bunbury round earned him. With the worst rounds removed, McDiarmid is now on 269, ahead of Keen on 254. * Lee Redmond and Ryan Condren also consolidate their spots, both at the expense of Ben Migro. Migro drops 29 points while Redmond and Condren both drop 0, vaulting the pair over Migro into equal 6th. * Kyle Beard appears in the top 10 at the expense of Adrian LaMacchia, with Beard dropping away no points at all following his non appearance at Perth Motorplex early in the season, while LaMacchia drops 9, enough to slide him 7 points behind Beard. With plenty of racing still to come, there is bound to be more movement on the leaderboard. Remember, the graphic to the right of your screen will reflect the corrected points as of tonight's Round 8 of the series. Another key point is the worst rounds have no impact at all on the Hills Panel & Paint 10,000 series, only the Rogue Race Products season points. Wingless Sprints WA would like to thank all their sponsors for season 2011 / 12, with the support from season sponsor Rogue Race Products, and Gold Sponsors Steel Blue Workwear, Transit Clothing, Jim Kidd Sports and Keen Driver Training assisting in getting the club on the road to a successful season. |
